If you call New Jersey native Richard Rubin a geek, he won’t be offended. He was the first runner-up on the reality show Beauty and the Geek in 2005-06, which helped usher him into a career in entertainment. Rubin now performs using his other talents, like playing jazz piano, and he’s done so professionally on Celebrity Cruises and in jazz festivals. And if that’s not enough, his Spanish fluency led him to co-host an Argentinian television show.
Any performer looking for more work needs a demo reel, and for his, Rubin turned to us – Home Video Studios in Westfield.
Rubin, a Native New Jersey performer, appreciated that Dan worked in Westfield and made videos for the New Jersey Table Tennis Club. “I used to play ping pong at the New Jersey Table Tennis Club when I was 13. When I saw this person lived in Westfield, it resonated with me,” said Rubin.
And the experience of creating the demo reel together has been great, says Rubin, noting that Weiniger is not only nice, but also ethical and fair. “He’s not just doing it to collect a paycheck,” Rubin said. “He’s actually interested, and concerned that the project goes off well. He really wants to help you.”
In the demo reel, Weiniger highlights Rubin’s numerous television appearances, including the Tyra Banks Show, Live with Regis & Kathie Lee and Beauty and the Geek, plus his jazz piano performances and the Flor de Palabra game show he co-hosted in Argentina. You can see Richard Rubin’s demo reel on YouTube, under HomeVideoStudio1818’s channel (look for “Richard Rubin Entertainment Reel”).
